Team: O'Donnell, Foley(Wong), Dunsire, Blyth, Mackenzie, Ayiku(Nyadu), M.Smith(c), Fearn, Robertson, Alexander(Weare), Fleming
Subs not used: Cunningham, Nairne
I’m not going to do a full report this week, partly because there were too many goals to try and remember, and partly because I really don’t want to have to write about all the goals the other team scored.
Those that played last night will not want to re-live the goals again, and those that didn’t play well lets just say that there were a few mistakes during the game that led directly to goals for the opposition.
Keith scored from a rebounded effort on 20 minutes that came back of their 6ft 5” keeper who was Craig Gordon’s double. Dave had done well to get a shot off which the keeper saved with his legs but the ball broke to Keith and he kept up his scoring record with a well placed finish from 12 yards to make the score at that point 2-1.
Half-time 5-1 Athletico Star
FINAL SCORE – 10-1 Athletico Star
Managers Comment:
At a bit of loss as to what to write here this week, I think more than enough was said in the dressing room last night, Thank you to Barry for speaking up, it was refreshing to hear a player show his feelings and was well appreciated by myself.
I guess what I meant last night and have all season is that players need to stand up and be counted on the pitch and not shy away. There’s no prisoners taken in Sunday league, that team last night showed the benefits of getting the ball down and playing football, and most of all they showed belief in their ability and all wanted the ball.
EVERY and I do mean EVERY player needs to have a long hard look in a mirror this morning and ask themselves “could I have done more”. I think you know what the answer will be for 99% of the team.
Best in the tangerine last night, bit of a tough one here, I thought Ian showed a great desire and willingness to chase the cause throughout the game, and both Kofi and Steve Wong had strong sub appearance’s in the 2nd half. The MOTM award however goes to BARRY FEARN, for never giving up and being the most vocal of everyone on the pitch - overall a great example for others to follow.
